About

From my first post – I think it gives the “about.”

I knew that I wanted to start a blog. I just didn’t know how hard it would be to write the first post!  I’ve procrastinated for a few days. Maybe a bit of explanation is in order.  I’m a Catholic, work-at-home (medical transcriptionist typing OB/GYN charts), stay-at-home wife to an awesome guy and mom of three teens, who loves to read/talk/write about politics, religion, and just about anything else.  The Internet can easily consume and overwhelm me with information, a lot of it bad, some of it incredibly well thought out and well written.  But, it has also become an amazing source for everyone to look for the truth.  The politicians can’t lie quite as easily as they used to – some blogger will immediately catch the lie, find the pertinent evidentiary news clip and post it.  Amazingly enough, that hasn’t seemed to stop the landslide of lies coming out of the political sphere, mainly because the mainstream news sources that report on these things are quite partisan, left leaning (if you don’t believe me just take a look at what FOX news is going through, because they are the only mainstream media source that dares to question the current White House administration).  One of the things I love about the Internet, though, is that I only have to spend a short amount of time to look at several web sites to glean a lot of information about what’s going on in the world each day.  And yes – I did say I’m Catholic – NOT a Nancy Pelosi-type Catholic, just to be clear. Frankly, I don’t consider her Catholic, but I suppose that is not for me to judge.  However, I can tell you quite objectively, that she openly flouts some of the most fundamental tenets of the Catholic faith, so I have to wonder why she wants to call herself Catholic.  That’s right – I’m pro-life too. I believe that we humans were made in the image and likeness of God and to randomly destroy that life is, well, against the fifth commandment (you know, the thou-shalt-not-kill commandment).  But, even if you’re not Catholic or even Christian, science is very clear that life begins at conception. We simply have no right to decide that the reality of the human person begins at some randomly-assigned day or week or month. And taking an unborn innocent is bad, especially for the baby, but for the mother as well.  Remember – I type OB/GYN charts for a living. I read about the little five-week heartbeats day in and day out. The truth is, these are little people, and our society has gotten itself into a whole dangerous mindset by allowing abortion. It’s a mindset that runs deep and wide through everything, a mindset which Pope John Paul, II, aptly named the Culture of Death. He really hit on something with that one.  By the way, it was a mindset that I bought into for a long time, especially growing up in Southern California.  However, after much soul searching, reading and praying, I have come to understand a lot of things a whole lot better, thus the change of heart. Wow – I thought the first post would be hard to write, but it seems now I could write all evening. I’ll spare you that and end here. Hopefully, over time, I will connect with readers who share my same values and expose myself to readers who do not. I’m all over the map with what I read (and I read a LOT) and think about, so I’m sure my writing will reflect the same. Accompany me when you will. Comment when you feel like it – please keep it clean, even if you vehemently disagree with me.  Peace, Susan.  PS – I’m just learning about all this, so I will be updating the particulars of the blog as I figure them out!
